My boyfriend Dominic and I recently travelled to Paris and brought in the new year together. It was so beautiful to explore this city with my best friend and darling man. I'd been to Paris once before with my mum and sister where we celebrated our eighteenth and twenty first birthdays. Both trips were so special and different, the first time I went it was during the end of summer so it was sunny and hot and people were bathing along the river side sun tanning some ....very naked bods! This time was during the middle of winter and I saw the city with different and slightly older eyes. I loved seeing the contrast in fashion with people all rugged up in their coats and hats. In New Zealand there isn't a huge difference in temperature during winter and summer so I wasn't used to the negative degree temperature range, but it was such a great experience...I don't mind the cold so much anymore!
The lady with Red hair
When we arrived we were a little tired and a little cold, we checked into our Air BnB and went out to get some food. We enjoyed some pasta and wine whilst soaking up the reality of being in Paris together. When we went to pay for our meal the waiter explained that a lady with red hair had paid for our meal! We are still unsure of why as we hadn't even noticed or talked to any ladies....so thank you to the lady with red hair!
We took the train to Versailles and on the way it started snowing (so romantic). When you get off the train and walk to the palace everything is so beautiful and historic. The Palace is huge and it was good to stand outside and take in the size of it, we took it all in for....two hours because the line was so long to get inside. It was freezing and snowing, thank goodness I was with Dom - somehow we stayed pretty patient and chilled (literally). Inside the palace is a bit of a maze and so lavish it's insane. I was desperate to open all the closed doors and roam around. Even the gardens were still impressive despite it being off season. A must see and worth spending a whole day there.
Before we left I had done a little research on where to go vintage shopping in Paris. Our Air BnB host turned out to be a total babe and knew all the vintage stores that were in close proximity to where we were staying. The stores were SO big and full of great vintage. Most of the shops in the city were closed during the time we were there as it was New years.
Still managed to spend all my shopping money, Of course.
Here are a few photos, Enjoy X
